How to make an AI Christmas photo

  1. Step 1

    Pick a scene

Christmas tree puts everyone in a decorated living room in Christmas sweaters. Snow puts them outdoors in coats and scarves.

  2. Step 2

    Upload one photo

A JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 15 MB, with faces clear and not too small. The run starts as soon as the photo is uploaded and uses your daily free credits when you still have them.

  3. Step 3

    Compare and download

Drag the slider and check every face. Each run comes out a little different, so run it again if a face or a pose looks off.

What the AI Christmas photo generator does

It keeps the people in your photo, swaps the background for a Christmas scene, and changes their clothes to match. You need one photo, not a set of selfies, and there is no prompt to write.

Last December's AI Christmas photo trend had people upload a selfie to ChatGPT and paste a long prompt. This page does the same job without a prompt: pick a scene and upload. If you'd rather write your own, start with our ChatGPT Christmas photo prompts, each tested on a real photo.

It works with one person or a group. In our tests, a group of five kept the same people in the same places.

Black-and-white and sepia photos come out in color. To turn an old family print into a Christmas photo, repair it on Photo Restoration first, then bring it here.

In our tests, a run took about 20 seconds.

Photos that work well

Clear portraits, couples, family photos, groups of friends or coworkers, and restored old family prints. Each card below is a real Standard result and says what changed.

Christmas photos from a photo you already have

One upload, one scene, one result. It adds a Christmas background to your photo and changes the outfits; the people stay.

  1. 01

    Christmas tree scene

A decorated living room with a tree, string lights, and wrapped presents. Everyone gets a Christmas sweater.

  2. 02

    Snow scene

Outdoors in falling snow, with snow-covered pines and string lights. Everyone gets a winter coat and a scarf.

  3. 03

    No prompt, no selfie set

Pick a scene and upload one photo. There is nothing to write and nothing to train.

  4. 04

Free export, same model on Pro

A free run exports a JPG up to 2048 px on the long side, with no watermark. A Pro subscription uses the same model at the same credit cost and can download the model's full output.

AI Christmas photo examples

Every after side is a real Standard run, not a retouched picture. Two start from a portrait, one from a group of five, and two from an old family print we restored first. Each card says what changed.

How to get a better Christmas photo

These are tips for the photo you upload. They are not a promise about the result.

01

Use a clear, well-lit photo

Faces in focus and facing the camera come through best. Tiny faces in a wide shot drift more.

02

Crop to the people

A tighter crop gives each face more pixels. Crop a wide group shot before you upload it.

03

Old print? Restore it first

Scratches and stains carry into the new scene. Repair them on Photo Restoration first.

04

Run it again

Each run is different. If one face or pose looks off, run the same photo again before you change anything else.

What it does not do

  • Faces can change. Small faces in a group and faces turned away drift the most. Compare the result with your photo before you print it or send it as a card.
  • Clothes are replaced, and the framing can shift. Sweater patterns are invented and can include stray letters.
  • It does not write a greeting. There is no "Merry Christmas" text on the image; add it in your card or print app.
  • It is not a headshot service. You get one image per run, in the scene you picked.
  • Uploads and results are deleted after 24 hours. The photo is sent to the model provider so the edit can run.
