How to turn a photo into a sketch

  1. Step 1

    Upload one photo

A JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 15 MB. The run starts right away and uses your daily free credits when you still have them.

  2. Step 2

    Wait about half a minute

The whole picture is redrawn in graphite on white paper.

  3. Step 3

    Compare and download

Drag the slider and check faces, then download. Run it again for a different drawing.

What the photo to sketch tool does

It turns your photo into a detailed pencil drawing: graphite shading, hatching, and black and white only.

People, pets, and the background are drawn, not traced. Faces stay recognizable, and fur and fabric get pencil texture.

Want clean outlines with no shading, like line art? Use Photo to Coloring Page. Want color? Use Photo to Painting.

Photos that work well

Portraits, couples, pets, and buildings with a clear subject. Each card below is a real result.

A pencil drawing of your photo

One upload, one drawing. Graphite only.

  1. 01

    Real shading and hatching

Tones are built from pencil strokes, not a gray filter.

  2. 02

    Faces stay recognizable

The prompt asks the model to keep faces, hair, and age. Check every face.

  3. 03

    Backgrounds are drawn too

Flowers, walls, and furniture become pencil texture, not blank space.

  4. 04

    Free 2K export

A free run exports a JPG up to 2048 px on the long side, with no watermark.

How to get a better sketch

Tips for the photo you upload.

01

Use good light

Clear light and shadow in the photo give the sketch more depth.

02

Crop to the subject

Faces with more pixels keep more detail.

03

Simple backgrounds draw cleaner

A busy background becomes busy pencil texture.

04

Run it again

Each run is different. Try again before you change the photo.

What it does not do

  • It is not an edge filter. The model redraws the picture, so small details can change. Compare faces before you share.
  • It does not output color or line art without shading.
  • Uploads and results are deleted after 24 hours. The photo is sent to the model provider so the edit can run.

Need further adjustments?

If you're happy with the result, it's ready to save. If you also want to upscale, extend the edges, or refine other details, you can continue with:
